PUPPIS
(ra: 7.41,9/ dec -18:13)
DATA
TYPE: Planetary Nebula
MAGNITUDE: 11
Apparent Diameter: around 1 arc minutes
DISTANCE: 4000 lights years
OBJECT DESCRIPTION
Like a Gem in the middle of the night sky lies this colourful planetary nebula in the Constellation of Puppis 3º from the limit of Canis Major. NGC 2440 contains the hotter white dwarf know which is not visible in the image. The nebula was created by a "Sun like star" which had expulsed it external layers material in the last stages of its life. The red star above is SAO153271 with Magnitude of 8.46
Ha and L channels did not contribute too much in this object. Because its brightness and contrast I believe only the RGB will be enough to bring the details of the nebula.
